My experience with Elmworth Construction on the Design-Build Contract for 6124 Ryall Road, Duncan has compelled me to write this testimonial. While we are all very busy, I feel it is important to take some time to show appreciation, especially when it is warranted by exemplary performance. I have worked with many designers and contractors over the last 14 years with BC Housing Management Commission and few projects have been as rewarding and positive as the Ryall Road project. As Contract Consultant and Project Technologist for BC Housing, it has been a genuine pleasure to work with Elmworth Construction for the entirety of this project, including the initial RFP stage and fully throughout the formal process from conceptual design to construction completion. Please also extend my, and BC Housing’s, gratitude to your designer, Bruce Johnson (Pacific West House Design), and Site Supervisor, Brian Stone for their excellent work. This positive experience comes not only from Elmworth Construction satisfying the usual contract goals to achieve a Contract Scope of Work on time and on budget, but also from the many other important peripherals that often go un-noted, but truly carry great weight in a project. It was clear from the initial concept drawings that Elmworth had thoroughly reviewed the Scope of Work and gained a full understanding of the intent of the design requirements. This is proven from the fact that there were minimal requests for design alteration after detailed reviews by BC Housing, the Ministry of Children and Family Development and the Operator. As a group we appreciated your many suggestions towards design improvements above and beyond the outline Scope provided in the RFP for Design Build Services. During construction, Changes to the Work initiated by the Owner were priced reasonably and fairly. I sincerely appreciated your many recommendations towards potential construction improvements (as opposed to the status quo of focusing solely on the formal contracted Scope of Work). I am glad that our budget allowed us to implement some of these excellent suggestions, obviously based on your years of construction experience, and I am sure these changes will provide long-lasting value to the project. I found Elmworth Construction to be highly organized, efficient and professional. Staff were very personable, polite and easy to work with. All issues regarding administration were well anticipated and any questions or requests for clarification were asked with enough time for proper consideration and formal response. Submissions, Claims and other documents were on time, thorough and accurate (including Close-Out items and Maintenance Manuals, which is rare in the industry). On behalf of BC Housing, I look forward to collaborating on future projects with you and your company.

Dear Bruce: Just a note to extend to you my most sincere thanks for the wonderful job that you have done on our new office. I can honestly say that I have never had a construction project so well managed and I greatly appreciate it.

We’ve now been in our home for 6 ½ years and still tell anyone who asks us about our fabulous experience with Bruce Muir and his team at Elmworth Construction. The project was consistently on time and on budget, except for our upgrades. We could not have asked for better workmanship and we are proud to say that the majority of the people were from the Cowichan valley. The project manager, Al Stone can only be described as a gem. His communication with us was regular and he treated the project like his home. Over the years, Bruce has continued to provide advice and contacts for our various projects. If we ever considered another home, our first choice would be Elmworth Construction.

Based on my experience working with Elmworth Construction, I would not hesitate to recommend this team for any specialty construction project. Our extensive home renovation was particularly challenging, in that we have a 1912 home and the project consisted of demolishing the middle section of the house and rebuilding the area to meet our needs, yet and most importantly, to maintain the character of the house. The Elmworth team dedicated attention to every detail in the interior finish as well as the exterior elements to ensure our goals were achieved. The many challenges of renovating a character home of this age were dealt with practically and efficiently, with a view to providing the best possible solutions within a budgeted price. Everyone at Elmworth Construction worked together to deliver a "new" home that we are extremely happy with.

Elmworth Construction built my custom home on Shoreview Way and I am very pleased with the results. The finishing details are outstanding and all the staff I had contact with were most helpful and accommodating. There was good communication, attention to detail, and quality building practices. Bruce Muir and Al Stone are good “problem solvers” and I was impressed with the solutions.

This letter is an endorsement of Elmworth Construction Ltd. and its principal Mr. Bruce Muir. In the last five years Elmworth Construction acted as our general contractor for the successful development of a 9,000 sq. ft. strata title office/retail complex. This project fully sold and we experienced no problems with the purchasers over the quality of work or deficiencies. We also developed a custom designed 10,500 sq. ft. rental building which is occupied by the BC Building Corporation. Again the project was built on time and under budget. BCBC is a very demanding tenant but the construction was well managed and very few problems arose. I was advised by the BCBC Leasing Manager that they rarely had a project this well handled. We appreciate the professional approach provided by Elmworth Construction Ltd.

We engage in the development of residential properties on Vancouver Island. During the last several years we have employed the services of Elmworth Construction Ltd as project managers in a development in Duncan, BC to oversee the layout, installation of services and construction of building units. The project involved the installation of an access street with full city services as well as onsite development, layout and construction of 54 units ranging in size from 1,200 to 2,500 square feet of living space, fully serviced and landscaped. During the course of our association with Elmworth Construction Ltd, we have found them to be completely reliable in cooperating with the objects of our development requirements and in carrying out the planning and construction of the project in all respects. The development of the project was carried out efficiently with a high degree of quality of construction and was consistently on time and within our projected cost estimates. Accordingly, we have no hesitation in recommending the project management services of Elmworth Construction Ltd in all respects.

It is with pleasure that I write this letter of recommendation for Elmworth Construction. Though I do not live permanently in the Cowichan Valley, I contracted the team at Elmworth Construction to build a recreational home for me. I understand that working with an absentee client can pose difficulties, however Elmworth Construction was able to complete my home to my great satisfaction and within budget. We worked constantly via telephone and email to communicate my requests. I appreciated being kept apprised of costs as we made choices to customize the interior. I was pleased that the construction team was always dedicated to balancing custom options with my budget constraints. The after sales service has been great, with any issues dealt with quickly and efficiently. I would like to express my gratitude to Elmworth Construction and their crew for doing a great job on building our physiotherapy clinic. Elmworth built the shell and completed the tenant improvements in a timely manner, and went above and beyond to deal with some building inspection issues in order to get us up and running on our scheduled date. The crew was open to listening and changing ideas right up until the last minute. They are very professional, offer a great quality, and are easy to deal with. I will use Elmworth again in the future and I would recommend them to anyone building a home or commercial space.

When we planned to expand our storage facility here at Thermoproof, we worked with Mike Swanston and the rest of the Elmworth team. Even though they had to work around our busy production schedule, they were able to facilitate our plant expansion on time as promised and deliver a quality product. I wanted to write a letter that expressed how amazing it was working with Bruce Muir and the rest of the Elmworth team. I came to Bruce with a dream to build a one of a kind Integrative Health and Wellness Centre here in the Cowichan Valley. Not only did he help me achieve this dream, but it was done with such Professionalism and Craftsmanship that is hard to find nowadays. I can only humbly say, thank-you. I have worked as a project engineer for Bruce on a multitude of projects on south Vancouver Island, over the course of many years. Bruce has a keen sense of a project's potential and it is his in-depth knowledge of municipal bylaws, his good rapport with municipal staff that guide project development, and understanding the local development climate, that have contributed to Bruce's success.
