Originally from Alberta, Bruce Muir founded Elmworth Construction in Grande Prairie, AB in 1979 and moved the company to beautiful Vancouver Island in 1981. His decades long career in construction and development has included general management, consulting, and entrepreneurial experience with numerous joint venture partners and large real estate developers. Bruce has a degree in site planning from UBC and possesses a unique blend of practical and academic skills and hands on experience. This combination makes him as comfortable at the boardroom table discussing objectives, budgets and plans as he is on site inspecting construction progress.

Our construction managers, Brian Stone and Mike Swanston, are both journeymen carpenters and bring their hands-on technical skills to job site management. Brian has been working in construction since 1995 and achieved his Journeyman Carpentry Ticket in 1999. He has been successfully self-employed in the field since that time and started working with Elmworth in 2008. Mike entered the trade in 2005 and became an Interprovincial Red Seal Carpenter in 2009. Both draw on extensive experience gained from apprenticeship through project management and have established valued relationships with quality craftsmen, subcontractors, and suppliers in the Cowichan Valley.

Our administrative team of Norma Berg and Tawna Wilson have career long experience in construction related positions through all facets of administration, including job-cost bookkeeping, estimating, documentation management, and on-going client liaison. They have also been responsible for ISO Certification, and various contract administration systems, warranty management and most importantly – sincere customer service.
